Alarm settings (Alarm settings for costs, etc.)

Set up cost alerts

This is a screen where you can receive notifications on the screen or via a user-specified email when your expenses increase or decrease or when your monthly budget is exceeded.

 

1. Screen and terminology guide

  • Monitoring Name: This is the name of the previously registered cost monitoring item. You can click on it to check detailed information.

  • Monitoring Service Type: This is the type of service registered for cost monitoring. (Daily cost comparison, periodic cost comparison, monthly cost monitoring, etc.)

  • Execution cycle: The cycle at which the registered schedule repeats, written in CRON format. It is in the order of "second minute hour day month year", and "0 18 12 * * *" means that it will be executed every day at 12:18:00. For more information on CRON expressions, please refer to the following link. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cron)

  • Status: The current status of the registered schedule. If it is "Running", the schedule will be performed at each execution cycle, and if it is "Stopped", the schedule will not be performed even when the execution cycle arrives.

  • Options: Action type for the registered schedule.

    • Run once: Executes the registered schedule once regardless of the status.

    • Activate: Changes a registered schedule from stopped to running.

    • Disable: Stops a registered schedule that is running.

    • Delete: Deletes a registered schedule.

  • Add new Monitor: You can register a new cost monitoring item.

  • Monitoring Title: This is the previously registered cost monitoring name, which can be changed, and the title will be used as the email title when sending the results by email.

  • Monitoring Service: This is an item that can be set for cost monitoring, and one of the four can be selected depending on the user's purpose.

  • Monitoring Target: The cloud account being monitored. You can select by company, service, or cloud account.

  • Target Service: This is the service being monitored, and you can select the service for each CSP.

  • Monitoring Cycle: You can set the execution cycle for repeating the schedule.

  • Alarm Settings: You can set notification criteria for each monitoring service.

    • Always send results when performing a repeat cycle: Always sends results regardless of the result.

    • Send results based on user-defined conditions: Send results to my email when the specified conditions are met.

    • Do not send notifications: Results will not be sent via notification channels. Results can still be viewed via the "History" tab even if they are not sent via notifications.

  • Notification Channel: You can choose to send via email or Slack.

  • Email: You can select the email address of the user who will receive the monitoring results.

  • Slack: Enter the Webhook URL and Channel information for Slack transmission.

  • Teams : Enter the Webhook URL information for Teams transmission.

 

2. How to add a new notification

 2.1. Select notification service

Specify the category, whether it is a cost monitoring alert or an inventory alert.
After selecting which items you want to set monitoring alerts for, click 'Next'.

  • Daily Cost Comparison(D-3, D-4): Sends notifications by comparing costs from 3 days ago and 4 days ago. (The most recent cost data is available from D-3 according to the billing system's settlement schedule)

  • Compare Costs by Period: Send notifications by comparing costs for each period by specifying a specific range.

  • Monthly Cost Budget Monitoring: Notifies you of monitoring results based on the budget and thresholds set for each month.

  • Cloud Advisor Report: Sends notifications for items detected through CloudXper's own Advisor function, such as RI/SP expiration or CloudTrail cost overrun detection.

  • CloudXper CostGuard Advenced (Anomaly detection based on AI prediction) : AI automatically detects cost anomalies based on the confidence interval and sends notifications.

  • Budget Management : In the 'Budget Management' menu, the registered budget and incurred costs are compared, and the results are sent as notifications.

2.2. Setting up notification reception channels

Enter the various notification receiving channels (email, Slack) and recipient user information for the notifications that occur.

2.3. Setting notification options

Specify detailed notification options, including the title of the notification, notification cycle/occurrence conditions/period/sensitivity, etc.
Specifies the monitoring target service to monitor for notification occurrences.

 

2.4. Confirm additional notification (check input contents)

After final review of the additional notification settings/options, you can edit or confirm the input.

 

3. Basic cost overrun detection notification

This is a new feature added in June 2023 that notifies users (via email, etc.) of any cost abnormalities detected in accounts for which each individual has authority, without requiring separate cost monitoring settings.

Set up notification receiving channels

The two menus of Management, ‘Cost Alarm Setting’ and ‘Notification Reception Setting’, have been integrated.
The menus for notification recipients/reception channels, etc., that were in the 'Notification Settings' of the past menu have been changed as follows: [Add new notification]The method has been changed to proceed in the second step.

In other words, you can now set different notification reception methods for each notification type.

If you set the notification reception channel to email, you will receive an email in the format below.

4. Budget Management Notification

4.1 Select notification service

Under ‘Select Notification Service’, select ‘Budget Management’.

 

4.2 Enter notification settings

Enter setup information for budget management notifications.

  • Budget Selection: Select the registered budget from the 'Cost Analysis > Budget Management' menu. If there is no registered budget information, notification registration is not possible.

  • Budget Period: This is the period of the selected budget, during which notifications will be set only.

  • Budget Amount: The average of the budget amounts entered during the budget period.

  • Sending Conditions: Enter a threshold (%) of your monthly budget amount. If your costs exceed the threshold, you will receive a notification.

  • Sending Frequency: Set the sending frequency when the sending conditions are met.

    • Send Daily: Sends emails based on daily incurred costs compared to the threshold.

    • Sent once per month: After the first monthly notification, no notifications will be sent unless the budget information or notifications are updated (modified).

  • Monitoring Target: You can check the company/service/account set in the budget information. You can edit it in the 'Budget Management' menu.

 

4.3 Enter the notification reception channel settings

Enter your email and Slack information to receive additional notifications.

  • Get notified by email

    • Shared recipients: Specify which CloudXper users you want to share notifications with. Users who receive shared notifications can view shared budget information in the 'Budget Management' menu. (View only, cannot edit/delete)

    • Additional Email Address: Register an external email address to share notifications.

  • Receive notifications via Slack: You can receive notifications via Slack by entering the Webhook URL and Channel information.

  • Receive notifications via Teams: You can receive notifications via Teams by entering the Webhook URL.

 

4.4 Check additional notifications

Check the final notification content you entered before saving. Click the 'Add' button to save.
