• Spend-based commitment discounts are discounts offered in exchange for a minimum amount spent on a product or service.

• In your Cloud Billing account Share DiscountPermissions required to view recommendations for selected spend-based and resource-based commitments

  • To see recommendations only: Payment Account Viewer(roles/billing.viewer) assign roles

  • To view and edit recommendations: Payment Account Manager(roles/billing.admin) assign roles

• Resource-based commitments Share DiscountDo not select Not Permissions required to view recommendations <--- If you have never purchased CUD, this applies unconditionally
  
  

  • You must assign this role to each project in the Cloud Billing account for which you want to purchase committed use discounts.

  • To view only recommendations, go to Project viewer(roles/viewer) assign roles

  • To view and edit recommendations, go to your project owner(roles/owner) or editor(roles/editor) assign roles

  • Requires the above 'Project Viewer/Owner/Editor' permission + 'Payment Account Viewer' permission <---- In our case, we have a special clause in our EDP contract for resellers to prevent customers from directly accessing the Billing menu, so we need the 'Payment Account Viewer' permission in addition to the guide content.

Purchase a resource-based commitment usage discount

• Available for purchase by Project Owner

• However, if you set the resource-based commitment usage discount to 'Discount Sharing', you must first purchase it under Project Owner authority and then temporarily obtain Billing Account Admin authority to enable 'Discount Sharing'.
